Generative Artificial Intelligence Policy
Journal Of Computer Science And Technology recognizes that Generative Artificial Intelligence (Generative AI) and AI-assisted technologies may be used as supporting tools during the preparation of scientific manuscripts. To maintain transparency, academic integrity, originality, and accountability, authors are required to disclose any substantive use of Generative AI or AI-assisted technologies in the preparation of their manuscripts.
1. Permitted Use of Generative AI
Authors may use Generative AI tools as supplementary assistance during the research and manuscript preparation process, provided that such use does not replace the authors' intellectual contribution, scientific judgment, or responsibility for the content of the manuscript.
Permitted uses may include, but are not limited to:

improving grammar, spelling, punctuation, and language clarity;

improving sentence structure and readability;
-
assisting with translation between languages;
-
assisting authors whose first language is not English or Indonesian in improving linguistic quality;
-
providing suggestions for improving the organization or presentation of a manuscript;
-
assisting with brainstorming, outlining, or developing preliminary ideas;
-
assisting with formatting or other non-substantive editorial tasks; and
-
supporting other limited activities that do not constitute the generation of original scientific findings or intellectual contributions.
The use of Generative AI must remain under the direct supervision and critical evaluation of the authors.
2. Prohibited or Unacceptable Use
Generative AI must not be used in a manner that compromises the integrity, originality, reliability, or credibility of scholarly work.
Authors must not use Generative AI to:

fabricate or invent research data, observations, experimental results, participants, references, citations, or scientific findings;
-
falsify, manipulate, or selectively alter research data or results;
-
generate misleading scientific claims or conclusions without appropriate verification;
-
create or manipulate images, figures, tables, or other research materials in a manner that misrepresents the underlying research;
-
generate references or citations that have not been independently verified by the authors;
-
present AI-generated content as entirely original human-authored work when disclosure is required;
-
replace the authors' responsibility for scientific analysis, interpretation, or conclusions;
-
impersonate authors, reviewers, editors, or other individuals;
-
submit AI-generated material that violates copyright, intellectual property rights, privacy, confidentiality, or other applicable ethical standards; or
-
use AI tools to circumvent the journal's peer-review, plagiarism-detection, or research-integrity procedures.
Authors remain fully responsible for ensuring that the manuscript complies with applicable ethical, legal, and scholarly standards.
3. Disclosure of Generative AI Use
If Generative AI or AI-assisted technologies have been used substantively in preparing a manuscript, authors should provide a declaration in the manuscript.
The declaration should identify:

the name of the Generative AI tool or technology used;
-
the purpose for which the tool was used;
-
the general nature of the assistance provided; and
-
confirmation that the authors reviewed, verified, and took responsibility for the resulting content.
Examples of Generative AI technologies include, but are not limited to, ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Microsoft Copilot, Grammarly's AI features, and other comparable AI-assisted writing or content-generation systems.
4. Recommended Declaration in the Manuscript
Where applicable, authors may use the following statement:
Generative AI Declaration: During the preparation of this manuscript, the authors used [name of AI tool] for [describe the purpose, e.g., language editing, grammar improvement, translation, or manuscript organization]. All AI-assisted content was critically reviewed, verified, and revised by the authors. The authors take full responsibility for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and final content of the manuscript. Generative AI was not used to fabricate or manipulate research data, results, references, or scientific findings.
If no Generative AI or AI-assisted technology was used in preparing the manuscript, authors may state:
Generative AI Declaration: The authors declare that no Generative AI or AI-assisted technologies were used in the preparation of this manuscript.
5. Human Responsibility and Accountability
Generative AI tools cannot be considered authors or co-authors of manuscripts submitted to Journal Of Computer Science And Technology.
Authorship requires intellectual contribution, accountability, and the ability to take responsibility for the work. AI systems do not meet these requirements and therefore must not be listed as authors or co-authors.
The human authors remain responsible for:

the accuracy and completeness of the manuscript;
-
the validity and interpretation of the research;
-
the originality of the work;
-
the accuracy of citations and references;
-
compliance with research ethics;
-
compliance with copyright and intellectual property requirements;

In particular, authors must independently verify:

quotations;

legal or regulatory information;

technical specifications;

any other information that may affect the validity of the manuscript.
Generative AI systems may produce inaccurate, incomplete, outdated, biased, or fabricated information. Therefore, AI-generated content must not be accepted without appropriate human review and verification.
7. Originality and Plagiarism
The use of Generative AI does not exempt authors from the journal's requirements concerning originality, plagiarism, duplicate publication, self-plagiarism, copyright, and responsible authorship.
Authors must ensure that their manuscripts constitute original scholarly work and that all sources and intellectual contributions are appropriately acknowledged.
AI-generated text should not be used as a means of disguising plagiarism or reproducing copyrighted material without appropriate permission or attribution.
The journal may use plagiarism-detection and other research-integrity tools as part of its editorial and peer-review processes.
8. Research Data and Results
Generative AI must not be used to fabricate, invent, manipulate, or falsify research data or research results.
Where AI-assisted methods are directly involved in the research methodology, data processing, analysis, modeling, coding, or interpretation, authors should provide sufficient methodological information to enable readers, reviewers, and editors to understand the role of the AI system.
Where appropriate, authors should report:

the AI tool or model used;
-
the version or relevant technical specification;
-
the purpose of its use;
-
the data or information provided to the system;
-
the nature of the output;
-
how the output was evaluated or validated; and
-
the extent to which human researchers reviewed and modified the output.
AI-assisted analysis must be reproducible and scientifically justified to the extent reasonably possible.
9. Confidentiality and Privacy
Authors must exercise caution when entering information into external Generative AI systems.
Authors should not upload or disclose confidential, proprietary, personally identifiable, unpublished, or otherwise sensitive research information to Generative AI systems unless they have the appropriate authorization and the use complies with applicable privacy, confidentiality, and institutional requirements.
This includes, where applicable:

confidential research data;
-
identifiable participant information;
-
unpublished manuscripts;
-
confidential peer-review materials;
-
proprietary institutional information;
-
trade secrets;
-
restricted datasets; and
-
other information subject to confidentiality obligations.
Authors are responsible for ensuring that the use of any AI system does not compromise the privacy or confidentiality of research participants, institutions, reviewers, editors, or other parties.
10. Use of Generative AI in Images, Figures, and Visual Materials
Any use of Generative AI to create, modify, enhance, or substantially transform images, figures, diagrams, illustrations, or other visual materials must be disclosed where such use is relevant to the scholarly content of the manuscript.
Authors must ensure that AI-generated or AI-modified visual materials do not misrepresent research data, experimental results, participants, objects, or scientific observations.
Generative AI must not be used to create research images that falsely appear to represent actual experimental or observational evidence.
For research involving scientific images or data visualization, the original data must remain available and verifiable where required by the journal or applicable research standards.
11. Generative AI and Peer Review
Generative AI must not be used by reviewers to process or analyze confidential manuscripts without appropriate authorization.
Reviewers must maintain the confidentiality of manuscripts and unpublished research materials received during peer review.
Reviewers should not upload confidential manuscript content, reviewer reports, or other protected information to publicly accessible or third-party Generative AI systems unless explicitly permitted by the relevant journal policy and confidentiality requirements.
12. Generative AI and Editorial Responsibilities
Editors and editorial staff may use AI-assisted technologies for appropriate administrative or editorial purposes where such use is consistent with confidentiality, privacy, security, and publication-ethics requirements.
However, editorial decisions must remain under human oversight. Generative AI must not independently determine acceptance, rejection, or other substantive editorial decisions.
Editorial personnel remain responsible for maintaining fairness, confidentiality, transparency, and academic integrity throughout the editorial process.
13. Disclosure Does Not Reduce Author Responsibility
Disclosure of Generative AI use does not constitute an endorsement of the technology by Journal Of Computer Science And Technology.
Similarly, disclosure does not reduce or transfer the authors' responsibility for the manuscript.
Authors remain accountable for all statements, interpretations, data, figures, references, and conclusions contained in the submitted work, including content that was generated or assisted by an AI system.
14. Editorial Review of Undisclosed AI Use
If the editorial team has reasonable concerns that Generative AI was used in a substantive manner without appropriate disclosure, the journal may request clarification or additional information from the authors.
Where undisclosed AI use is found to have resulted in fabrication, falsification, plagiarism, misleading presentation, confidentiality violations, or other forms of research or publication misconduct, the journal may take appropriate action in accordance with its publication ethics and research-integrity procedures.
Possible actions may include:

requesting correction or clarification;
-
requesting revision of the manuscript;
-
rejecting the manuscript;
-
issuing a correction or editorial notice after publication;

retracting a published article where warranted; or
-
taking other appropriate measures consistent with the severity of the issue.
15. Scope of This Policy
This policy applies to all manuscripts submitted to or published by Journal Of Computer Science And Technology, including original research articles, review articles, conceptual papers, case studies, community service articles, and other scholarly contributions.
The policy may be updated periodically to reflect developments in Generative AI technology, publication ethics, research-integrity standards, legal requirements, and best practices in scholarly publishing.
16. Final Statement
Jurnal Ilmiah Multidisiplin Nusantara supports the responsible and transparent use of Generative AI as a supplementary technological tool in scholarly communication. The journal recognizes that AI-assisted technologies can contribute to language improvement, editorial efficiency, and certain aspects of research workflows. However, Generative AI must not replace human intellectual contribution, scientific judgment, ethical responsibility, or accountability.
The fundamental responsibility for the integrity, originality, accuracy, and reliability of every published article remains with the human authors.
By submitting a manuscript to Journal Of Computer Science And Technology, authors acknowledge that they are responsible for complying with this Generative AI Declaration and for providing transparent disclosure of any substantive use of Generative AI or AI-assisted technologies in the preparation or conduct of their research.
